Benjamin Kelley – New Hampshire

Lot of three tintypes showing Benjamin at different ages in his life time.

All three tintypes have typical wear. They all have their fair share of scratches, scrapes, little pit marks, outline of the album frame. Most of the flaws can only be seen while viewing the photos at an angle to the light, but some things can be seen straight on..

The middle tintype (I think he is oldest in this picture) has a bend at the upper right corner.

The tintype on the right, the photographer hand painted a gold ring on Benjamin’s pinky and the top button of his shirt is gold, too.

Benjamin Payson Kelley was born on February 9, 1851, in Salem, New Hampshire, his father, Gilman, was 27 and his mother, Mary, was 23. He married Margaret “Maggie” C Farr on September 25, 1877. They had four children in 15 years. He died in 1920 in his hometown, at the age of 69.
